The United States Postal Service will be releasing in just 10 short days, January 20th, a block set of 5 stamps with pictures depicting different raptor species. They include the Northern Goshawk, Peregrine Falcon, Golden Eagle, Osprey, and Northern Harrier. What a great gift for the birder in your life.

The dates been set, (January 21st) the location was unanimous, (Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area) and the first road trip of the new year, (barring inclement weather) has been finalized. John Marvin returning for a second straight year asked about target birds. For this trip, hoping I don’t jinx myself, replied Tundra Swan, Northern Shrike, Long-eared Owl, Common Redpoll, and Crossbills (Red & White-winged). My true hope is a safe and productive journey with good friends.
