The “New List Birds” page was an idea that has been long overdue. The purpose was to make it simple for the reader to go back to a specific year and easily locate a certain species and where it was spotted and the date. The date used will either be the actual date or the date that I recorded it into eBird. I’m going to start with the first full year “A Birder’s Notebook” has been on-line, 2011. This will be a running total throughout the year, and will be added to as new species are sighted. It also allows me to keep track of all the new birds I see during the year so I can tabulate the totals at the end of the year. I realize that this seems redundant, but you’re dealing with a birder who needs another list to start.
