A Birder’s Haiku

Dedicated to the birder, as we start our week.

Today’s haiku has a little story behind it and how it came into being. As with any kind of poetry there needs to be some inspiration and today’s haiku is no exception. I was reading the blog “Some Little Crum Creek” the other day and the captions that were written for a series of pictures had that kind of feel. So I wrote in the comment section to see if the author would mind me writing a haiku inspired by his description.

Besides woodland stream

Dawns forest, stillness

small creatures awake to sing

with life’s renewal

Starry starry night

a Woodpecker pecks

at astral silences

The morning dew shines

as Springs green tinted landscape

comes alive with song.

A Dove pecks

another Dove prunes

the third Dove is still

Upon green carpet

Robins gather for the feast
