“On The Road”

How many of my readers remembers the late Charles Kuralt? This award winning journalist from Wilmington, North Carolina had approached CBS News and Walter Cronkite about an idea he had. That idea was the “On The Road with Charles Kuralt” series. From 1967 through 1980, 6 RV’s, and over 600 episodes later, his essays on America and it’s people have left an indelible mark on generations of  loyal viewers.

So what does this have to do with me? Well, with my last child, Ethan, going off the college in the near future, Kathy and myself will finally have a little more time to travel. And you know what that means? “A Birder’s Notebook” is going “On The Road”, so to speak. Unfortunately, I’m not going to travel as much as Charles Kuralt, but whenever I travel more than 50 miles to go birding, then it will be posted as a ‘On The Road” series entry.

What surprises await us? Only time will tell.
