Rare Bird Alert

Jon and Samantha Frodge reported 2 Hudsonian Godwits at Treaty Line Road at Brookville Lake. I’m not sure on the time of day, however with this information it will be an early morning for me as I chase this life bird.

Upcoming Events

It certainly has been awhile since I posted any upcoming events that any or all tri-state birders can attend. With Summer finally winding down, and Fall migration enticing birders into the great outdoors here are a few events that might fill your birding needs.

This first outing was organized by local veterinarian and birder Kathi Hutton. The only place where I’ve seen this publicized was on the Birding Ohio Facebook page. The field trip location is Armleder Park on Monday, September 3rd, at 8:00 am. This outing is conditional on the weather. With the remnants of Hurricane Issac spinning all over the Mid-west, if it looks like there is any chance of heavy rain this event could be cancelled. To find out on the status of this outing you’ll have to join the Birding Ohio Facebook page and watch for Kathi’s updates.

The next field trip is sponsored by Oxbow Inc. On September 16th, at 8:00 am Oxbow Inc. is offering a free trip through the Oxbow. Fall can particularly good for migrants at the Oxbow , so join the fun as jay Stenger leads the group through this diverse habitat. Our 3rd and final entry is more than just a field trip, it’s the Aububon Society of Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter, bird course. This bird course is being offered again and is open to all individuals, of all levels of birding skills. The course is being held on 3 consecutive Saturdays starting on September 23rd, September 30th, and October 7th. The price is $25.00 for members and $40.00 for non-members.
