January 100 Species Challenge/ 2013

Leaving at 7:00 am this morning to drive the 90 minutes to Pickerington Ponds south of Columbus to dip on the Harris Sparrow (which by the way shows up 80 minutes after I leave) I was able to spot a Rough-legged Hawk along the highway.

  1. Isn’t that always the way? I went to look for a Northern Hawk-Owl near the airport a few weeks ago. It had been seen in the same area for two days, and when I visited early in the morning it wasn’t there. Apparently it showed up about an hour after I left. Not a lifer, but it would have been a good year bird.
