Notes From The Field

Well we hit the road early this morning at 6 am. After some necessary stops and breakfast in Bowling Green we made to Ottawa NWF about 10:30. The auto tour through Ottawa was great since there was hardly anyone else. There has been times when it was almost bumper to bumper when trying to negotiate the refuge.
After the about tour we made our way to the Magee Marsh boardwalk for a couple of hours. It to was relatively quiet with plenty of room to move around. Even though there were plenty of warblers, there wasn’t a lot of diversity. Even in the short time we were there I counted only 15 warbler species. So by the end of the day we counted all told 84 species of birds with the most notable being Alder Flycatcher, American Bittern, and Eared Grebe.
Tomorrow will be full day so hopefully I will adding new birds to my overall trip list.
Another update tomorrow evening.
